Local Lunchtime Challenge

Local Lunchtime Challenge

The Town of Berlin has teamed up with local manufacturers to support its restaurants. Chris Edge, Director of Economic Development with the town is promoting the challenge.

“Tom Matulaniec of TOMZ and Alan Ortner of Sirois Tool challenge you to buy lunch one day a week for your employees and support Berlin restaurants while doing it!”  According to Edge, “Twenty Restaurants in Town have created a limited menu for this effort! Each restaurant has 4 to 5 options for lunch and all meals will be individually wrapped for everyone’s safety. They need 48 hours to prepare, but are happy to serve you and your firm.”

Last week free Lunch Friday came on Thursday at Sirois Tool due to the holiday. Our restaurant for the week was Joey B’s. We gave the employees 4 choices: Chicken Wrap; Tuna Melt; Cheeseburger; or Chili Dog, with Fries or Onion Rings, ordering more than 40 meals in total. Joey Buccheri opened Joey B’s on January 27th of this year. Less than two months later, he had to shut down dine-in service due to the virus. According to Buccheri, “Right now, companies ordering food for their employees is a great help. I appreciate our customers who are ordering every day to help us keep our employees working and our doors open.” He also mentioned that they have plenty of hand sanitizer and gloves and are able to keep distance from each other. This ensures his restaurant is safe both for customer pick-up and for his employees.

Sirois Tool is pleased to be able to offer this challenge. It has always been a big supporter of the the local community through food drives and other programs throughout the year. “This is just another opportunity we couldn’t pass up to support our local community.” stated Alan Ortner, President of Sirois Tool.
